IIT-K And BFI Forge Partnership To Accelerate Healthcare Innovation

A strategic partnership has been announced by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) and Blockchain For Impact (BFI) under the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Programme. This partnership aims to nurture innovations and drive advancements in healthcare in India. BFI will support IIT Kanpur in promoting entrepreneurial initiatives through the Startup Incubation & Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur. An official release stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at IIT Kanpur by Prof. Kantesh Balani, Dean of Resources and Alumni (DoRA), IIT Kanpur, and Dr. Gaurav Singh, CEO BFI.

BFI has pledged to allocate over $150,000 across three years to develop programmes tailored to healthcare-focused startups at IIT Kanpur’s SIIC. This collaboration leverages IIT Kanpur’s leadership in fostering entrepreneurship and BFI’s commitment to advancing biomedical research. Prof. Kantesh Balani, DoRA, IIT Kanpur, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting its benefits for knowledge sharing, effective startup support, and capacity building.

Dr. Gaurav Singh, CEO of BFI, praised the energy and dedication of IIT Kanpur’s incubatees, emphasizing their alignment with BFI’s mission of accelerating impactful solutions in biomedical research. The partnership aims to develop impactful solutions that address critical gaps in India’s healthcare landscape through diverse initiatives in biomedical research and innovation, district full-stack partnerships, and process-driven funding programmes.
