A fire outbreak at a four-storey commercial building in RT Nagar, Bengaluru, led to the rescue of over 20 individuals on Friday afternoon. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities reported.

The fire, which started in the basement generator, prompted a swift response from the fire department, with four fire tenders dispatched to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 1:50 pm. By 4 pm, firefighters had managed to extinguish the flames.

The building houses a call centre on the ground and first floors, while an Ayurvedic hospital occupies the third and fourth floors. The blaze resulted in the destruction of stocks of Ayurvedic medicines stored in the basement, along with approximately 25 vehicles parked in the vicinity.

The intensity of the fire caused smoke to engulf the upper floors, prompting occupants to seek refuge on the terrace. Fortunately, the fire department’s rapid intervention facilitated the safe evacuation of those stranded on the terrace.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit in the generator sparked the blaze, though further inquiries are underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
