 Nandini Milk Prosperity Bank to start functioning in 15 days:  STS

Our government has not done any discrimination in taking up development.  Whether Congress or JDS legislators, they have been given all the support.  As incharge minister, I have made a genuine effort to develop the Periyapatna sector, said ST Somashekar, Minister of Cooperation and district incharge.

He was speaking at inauguration of new sub office building of Mysuru District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union at Periyapatna and cow fair.

 The Nandini Milk Prosperity Bank and DCC Bank will function separately, There is  no possibility of merging these two, he said.

 Chief Minister has announced the establishment of the Nandini Milk Prosperity Co-operative Bank to ensure that the farmers are financially secure. Amit Shah, Union Minister of Co-operation, has already launched the logo. He said that the bank would be commissioned after obtaining permission from the Reserve Bank of India in 10-15 days.

 During the tour of districts, the cooperative institutions were demanding for reintroduction of Yeshaswini scheme.  For the last 2-3 years efforts were made for introduction of Yeshaswini scheme.  Now the chief minister has announced the reintroduction of the scheme, he said.

Central Minister Amit Sha has inaugurated the Yeshaswini scheme.  The project would be implemented within 15-20 days so as not to cause any trouble to farmers when hospitalized for treatment, he said.

 A target of Rs 20810 crore loan disbursement target was given to DCC Banks.  Out of this, they have achieved 114 percent.  During the current year it is targeted to disburse 24 thouand crore loan.  In this 3 lakh new farmers will be able to get loan at zero percent interest, he said.

It is hoped that by increasing lending to farmers every year their income will double. The loan recovery in addition to disbursements are also in the range of 90 to 99 pecent, he said.

Since ragi is grown abundantly in Mysuru region, the chief minister was requested to reopen the ragi purchase centres.  The chief minister has announced opening of ragi purchase centres, he said.

 Minister of Agriculture BC Patil will be on a two day tour of Mysuru.  During this discussions will be held regarding problem of fertilizer and solved, he said.

 An honest effort is being made to fill the lakes in Periyapatna region.  Already 70 percent of the lakes are filled with water and the obstacles for the remaining will be discussed and resolved. In this part, 10 acres of land has been sanctioned for starting livestock production unit.  This will benefit the farmers of this area and provide employment to the youth, he said.

A cow fair was inaugurated and prizes were distributed to the owners of cows giving more milk. 

Before this, the minister inaugurated the taluk level health check up camp, health awareness programme, exhibition on health.
