Hundreds of women activists from Bharatiya Sanskruti Foundation (BSF) held a protest-demonstration at the deputy commissioner’s office, demanding protection for women in the wake of increasing atrocities and crimes.
The activists submitted a memorandum to the state government, seeking appointment of adequate staff at the two women’s police stations in city.

Earlier, the activists marched from Rani Channamma Circle to the deputy commissioner’s office premises.
Speaking to the media, Pramoda Hazare, the President of BSF, said the organisation observed the international women’s day this year under the theme investing in women.
By investing in women, be it in education, economic opportunities or leadership roles, we accelerate progress, promote gender equality and empower women to contribute more significantly to socio-economic and cultural development, hazare said.
Hazare voiced concern over rising incidents of crimes against women, particularly recent mob lynchings and moral policing at Hosavantmuri, Ghataprabha, Tigadi and Bailhongal.
The organisation also sought immediate action to mitigate the scarcity of drinking water in the city and measures to supply piped gas to households.
On the issue of exploitation of female domestic helps, Hazare rued the absence of clear guidelines on minimum wages and social security measures.
Gouri Gajabar, Sunita Subhedar, Anuradha Sutar, Manda Nevagi, Shanta Jadhav, Rekha Annigeri, and Preeti Lohar from BSF were among those present during the demonstration
