A woman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting her 87-year-old father-in-law with a walking stick. This incident was reported within the confines of a residence in Kulashekar in Kankanady Police station limits. The arrested accused is Uma Shankari, said City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal. The CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral.
The accused works as a cashier in MESCOM, Attavar, and her husband works in Dubai.
According to sources, the assault took place after the victim identified as Padmanabha Suvarna, placed his clothes on a sofa, which provoked the accused. She is accused of attempting to fatally injure him with the stick and even wishing for his demise. Fearing for his life, the victim sought refuge at his brother’s house in Marnamikatta and informed his daughter. He suffered injuries on his knees, hands and face during the attack. Subsequently, CCTV footage of the incident was examined by Suvarna’s family. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s daughter, a case has been registered under IPC sections 324 and 307.
