Open To Constructive Suggestions From The Opposition On Water Crisis: DCM

Must read

DCM D K Shivakumar expressed his willingness to entertain constructive suggestions from the Opposition during a press interaction at his Sadashivanagar residence. He emphasized the government’s proactive stance in tackling the water crisis by confronting the water mafia and seizing control of private water tankers, a first in the state’s history.

Shivakumar highlighted that approximately 50% of the city’s bore wells have dried up, prompting the government to commandeer private water tankers to transport water from sources outside the city. Pricing mechanisms for water supply via tankers will be determined by officials, factoring in variables like distance traveled.

Addressing the media’s concern over the escalating water crisis, Shivakumar underscored the importance of water conservation and public awareness regarding its value. He advocated for responsible water usage, discouraging wasteful practices like car washing. Responding to queries about the appointment of a nodal officer specifically for Bengaluru Rural constituency, Shivakumar attributed it to the area’s heavy reliance on bore well water sources.
