Action To Prevent Drinking Water Problem In Bengaluru: DCM

Must read

Deputy Chief Minister DK ShivaKumar, is also serving as Bengaluru Urban Development Minister, and has pledged to undertake necessary measures to avert a drinking water crisis in Benagluru. Addressing reporters, he hailed the historic initiatives undertaken to address the city’s water scarcity.

ShivaKumar announced the unprecedented seizure of all water tankers by BBMP, ensuring government-led water distribution and effectively curbing the tanker mafia. With half of the city’s bore wells dried up, efforts are underway to transport groundwater from across the state to Benagluru via tankers.

Emphasizing the regular supply of Cauvery water, Shivakumar assured that the government is surpassing demand, augmenting supply by an additional 0.25 mld. The completion of the 5th stage of Cauvery works promises to extend water access to 110 newly incorporated villages within BBMP jurisdiction.

Acknowledging the statewide water crisis stemming from dried-up bore wells, Shivakumar urged citizens not to panic, assuring that the government has undertaken comprehensive preparations. He stressed the importance of valuing water and urged citizens to reserve Cauvery water solely for drinking purposes, advocating for alternative water sources for non-essential activities like car washing and gardening.

He also appealed for public cooperation in water conservation efforts, recognizing water as a vital resource indispensable for life. As Bangalore navigates through these challenges, collective efforts are pivotal in ensuring sustainable water management for present and future generations.
