On January 21, 2024, the alumni of Tagore Memorial School’s 88 batch gathered for their fourth consecutive annual reunion, creating a memorable journey down memory lane. The event was marked by meticulous planning, with arrangements ranging from booked halls, caterers, and games, to special songs and nostalgic dress codes. The dress code, reminiscent of the school uniform with white and grey attire and a grey and red tie, transported attendees back to their school days. The formal alumni inauguration began with a prayer, echoing the school’s prayer song, followed by a lively group dance to the super-popular “Singara Siriye,” evoking cheers and whistles from the crowd. Games became the highlight of the reunion, organized with great efficiency by one of the alumni. The competitive spirit was rekindled, and differences vanished as doctors and company directors transformed into 15-year-olds, enthusiastically participating in various games. The camaraderie extended to gender-based games, where chants like “Henn Maklu Ne Strongu Guru” and retorts like “E sala cuppu namde” filled the air, showcasing the playful banter of school days. The games, marked by fun and occasional cheating, included balloon bursting, Chinese whispers, spinning tops, and marbles. Participants, now in their 50s, embraced their inner child, playing with the same enthusiasm and arguments as they did in their teenage years. Following the games, the dance floor opened up, allowing attendees to showcase their moves to popular tunes, resulting in laughter and funny comments. The reunion offered a chance for attendees to catch up with each other after several decades, sharing stories, jokes, and school memories that filled everyone with a deep sense of nostalgia. Despite assembling at 10 am, bidding farewell at 6:30 pm was difficult as the day of laughter, singing, dancing, and playing came to an end. The reunion served as a reminder of the cherished school days and the joy of reconnecting with old friends, even if only for a brief moment in the timeless journey of being an adult.
