Farmers’ Battle For Land Justice: Fighting Against Government Negligence

Bengaluru

The struggle for justice continues in Devanahalli’s Poojanahalli village, where farmers are fighting for their rightful land. Dating back to 1977, 10 acres of government land were allotted to farmers in Survey 21. However, due to the negligence of past horticulture officials, Munegowda and Pujanahalli Prakash allegedly encroached upon this land after 27 years, taking it from the government’s possession. Despite the court’s order favoring the sanctioned farmers and the subsequent return of the land to the farmers’ account, issues persist. The land’s ownership now rightfully resides with the farmers, as documented in pahanis and district administration records. Despite the farmers’ victory through various legal battles spanning two decades, the government’s support remains elusive. The struggle has escalated as farmers, including Muniyappa, have rallied against the injustice by distributing pamphlets and bringing attention to their plight. They are calling out the harassment by Munegowda and Prakash, urging truth and justice from officials and the public alike. The farmers have persisted, engaging with authorities and submitting petitions to officials like Shirasthedara Bharat in Devanahalli taluk for their rightful justice. The battle, which has seen the involvement of various judicial bodies, including the AC, DC, High Court, KIT, and Supreme Court, reflects the continued fight against the unfair claims of individuals encroaching upon the allotted land. Despite pending applications and public outcry, the district administration’s actions in support of the farmers remain under scrutiny. Social media discussions further highlight the ongoing struggle, leaving the final question: Who will ultimately uphold justice for the farmers?
