The Malleshwaram station police have made a remarkable breakthrough by apprehending two notorious thieves, Mohammad Zaibuddin (32) and Mehtab (38), both hailing from Jayanagar. The arrest of these prolific criminals, who have collectively been involved in over 75 criminal activities, was made possible through a phone payment tip. The operation led to the recovery of a substantial sum of Rs 26.5 lakh in cash and the confiscation of valuable gold jewelry. Mohammad Zaibuddin, a seasoned offender with a criminal record dating back approximately 12 years, had been consistently involved in unlawful activities across various parts of the city. He had accumulated more than 75 registered cases against him in numerous police stations throughout Bangalore. Despite spending a considerable amount of time as an inmate in various jails, Zaibuddin had resorted to his criminal ways shortly after being released on bail. Co-accused Mehtab, on the other hand, had a history of engaging in house theft, vehicle theft, and racketeering for several years. He too had a substantial record of more than 40 cases registered against him. Recent evidence suggests that he had been actively collaborating in criminal activities alongside Zaibuddin. Zaibuddin, who had effectively made theft his full-time occupation, had seemingly enticed Mehtab with the allure of a lavish lifestyle. Remarkably, both of these individuals were married to sisters from the same family and resided in two separate flats in Jayanagar. Subsequent investigations unveiled that they were leading luxurious lives, funded primarily by the proceeds of their criminal activities.
