Rare Leopard Cat Falls ill, Rescued By Forest Officials

A leopard cat, which fell ill and fell into a roadside drain, was rescued by forest officials near Purappemane village in Hosanagara. Locals informed the forest officials of Hosanagar that the leopard cat was lying sick in a roadside drain between Purappemane and Gadikatte village.

Hosanagara Forest officials immediately rushed to the spot and the locals initially claimed that it was a leopard. The forest officials then claimed that it was a leopard species animal and a leopard cat and sent it to the Tiger and Lion Sanctuary in Shivamogga for treatment. The Medical officers of the tiger and Lion sanctuary have given proper treatment to it. The leopard cat is currently under the observation of doctors. The leopard cat is found only in the dense forests of the Western Ghats. It survives by hunting small animals in the forest.
