Bengaluru

Australian batsman David Warner attributes his extended success in One Day Internationals (ODIs) to his experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After his remarkable 163-run performance in the ICC World Cup match against Pakistan, Warner acknowledged the value of his IPL stints in enhancing his performance in the format. Warner explained that his time in the IPL taught him to change gears effectively, providing him with a better understanding of how to pace his innings. He emphasized that giving oneself time at the back end of an innings can lead to significant scores, especially on certain surfaces. Reflecting on the recent match, Warner felt that they missed opportunities with the bat. Despite establishing a solid platform, the batting unit couldn’t execute as effectively as desired, potentially falling short of a 400-run total. David Warner began his IPL journey with the Delhi franchise in 2009 and has accumulated a wealth of experience and runs in the league. Over the years, he has achieved considerable success and contributed significantly to his teams, including winning the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad. As the third-highest run-scorer in IPL history with 5881 runs, Warner is recognized as one of the most destructive openers across formats. Warner’s exceptional 163 in the recent ICC World Cup match was instrumental in setting his team on the path to a 62-run victory, elevating Australia to fourth place in the tournament standings.
