Deteriorating State Highway Causes Problems In Kavitala

Must read

Kavitala

The Raichur-Lingasugur state highway in the town is deteriorating due to the increasing dust, making it challenging for the public and motorists. A divider has been constructed from the new bus stand to the boys’ hostel, but it wasn’t accompanied by the removal of electric poles or road widening. This has left the road narrow, leading to vehicles veering off. Soil has piled up on both sides, causing excessive dust to be stirred up by passing traffic. The roads from Kalmath Cross to Muskie Cross have deteriorated, resulting in accidents, especially among bikers. The division work remains incomplete, and the construction of bridges and the relocation of electric poles have been delayed. The public has expressed frustration, stating that despite the clearance of buildings 13 years ago for road widening, the road remains narrow and the electric poles haven’t been moved. They criticize the construction of semi-bare dividers, which have added to traffic issues. The spread of excessive dust has led to damage to shop items, and customers face difficulties due to vehicle parking in front of shops. The public calls for road widening and a designated parking area for various vehicles. M.D. Mehboob, the organization’s leader, also urged authorities to take measures to control dust, such as spraying water, until the road is repaired.
