The state government has issued a clear instruction to all the departments of the state to list the activists who will get details under Right to Information (RTI). Former Deputy Chief Minister of the state Dr. C.N. Ashwathanarayana said that this is not only a violation of the law but also it is the misuse of power. Addressing a press conference at BJP state office Per CentJagannath BhavanPer Cent in Malleshwaram on Tuesday, he said that there is no provision in the law to list the information of RTI activists, The Congress government of the state has come forward to protect their Malpractices and to defeat the purpose of RTI Act itself. They are not only threatening and naming activists who seek information, but also misusing their authority and filing cases. He expressed his objection that the government has come forward to check the movement of activists and threaten them. He complained that it is a transparent government only by word of mouth. Lokayukta was closed earlier. He explained that an attempt has been made to deactivate the RTI Act. When the Congress government comes to power in the state, law and order will collapse. The government has completely failed in protecting the people as well as protecting the police too. An IPS officer was pelted with stones in Shimoga. He explained that similar incidents have taken place in other parts of the state also.
