Must read

“Sir, I spoiled my life by succumbing to anger. I killed my son with my own hands. I did not have the intention of ending his life. I wanted to bring him on the right path by teaching him a good lesson,” said a teary-eyed Surendra, father of Arpith, who was torched over some financial issue at Azad Nagar of Chamarajpet to the police officer.

Surendra, regretting the act, as he could not control his anger, said to the police, “My son Arpith did not do anything right in his life. He stopped his CA studies halfway. I asked him to look after my business. There also he did not manage things properly. He used to commit mistakes in finance. I was feeling the pain that my son is getting spoiled.

“So, in order to scare him I poured thinner on him. When I lit the first match stick he did not move. Second match stick fell on him,” he said.

Arpith, during his dying moment, also did not hate his father. On the contrary, he tried to save his father from going to prison in case of his death and lied to the doctor at Victoria hospital that he himself tried self-immolation. So in death also Arpith showed exemplary love for his father. Unfortunately he succumbed to the burn injuries. However, the CCTV footage at the spot of the act showed Surendra, pouring thinner and setting his son on fire.
