A cunning gang of sari thieves operating in Guntur has been apprehended by the police, putting an end to their audacious spree of stealing valuable sarees worth lakhs from prominent saree shops. The gang’s modus operandi involved arriving at their targets in a luxurious Scarfio vehicle, adorned in exquisite sarees and gold jewelry, creating an illusion of affluence. However, beneath this façade of elegance, their intentions were far from noble. This group of saree thieves orchestrated their thefts with meticulous precision, converging upon the city’s major saree emporiums to execute their grand heists. Their technique involved surreptitiously adding expensive sarees to the ones they wore, enabling them to pilfer substantial amounts of merchandise in a single raid. Unfortunately for them, their downfall came when a stolen saree accidentally slipped from their grasp within one of the stores. The vigilant store staff promptly noticed the stray saree and reported the anomaly to the store owner. Subsequent scrutiny of the store’s CCTV footage showcased the deftness and audacity of these female perpetrators. Acting swiftly in response to the shop owners’ complaints, the Ashoka Nagar and High Grounds Police took immediate action. Utilizing the surveillance footage from the stores, the authorities managed to apprehend the entire gang behind this intricate network of theft. Among the detainees are Raman, Ratnalu, and Chikamma, all hailing from Guntur. It has come to light that the gang managed to pilfer sarees amounting to an estimated value of 50 to 60 lakhs. The arrest of these individuals serves as a testament to the diligent efforts of law enforcement to safeguard businesses and maintain public security. The incident sheds light on the importance of comprehensive security measures for businesses, especially those dealing in high-value merchandise. The authorities have hailed the cooperation of the store owners and the efficacy of CCTV technology in swiftly identifying and apprehending the culprits.
