The Sound Of Beetle Disturbs Peace, People Scared

Chikkamagalur

Rain has reduced in the hills. But the sound of beetles heard in the mountains is like a rain compass, and their loud chirping sound is amazing to some people and annoying to some others. After the onset of monsoon this year, the population of Cicada (Beetle) insects has increased significantly in the hilly areas. Apart from that, the loud noise they make is amazing.

The call of cicadas is a common feature of the mountain rangers, the sound of the weather compass when the rains begin is the traditional sound of the atmosphere. But this year the cicadas’ cries have increased to the extent that there is something wrong with them. Cicadas work as experts in accurate weather forecasting. When their cries started, rain was sure to come. Even if the forecast of weather experts is wrong, the prediction of cicadas is not wrong. But this year, even though they shout day and night, there is no sign of rain, let alone rain.

Local residents say that it is strange that cicada insects, which are found only in fields and gardens, are appearing on hills, schools, walls and terraces of houses. Environmentalists such as Dhananjaya Jeewala, Purnesh Mattavar, IPTA Manjunath Swamy, Nagaraj Koove, Partha, Vision Chikkamagaluru organization have noticed this change. Pradeep and others shared and pondered this amazing idea on social media.

For the last three to four weeks, these insects have been screeching deafeningly. The scourge of these is also spreading to the plains. Some have also expressed concern that there may be a disaster like the locusts attack last two years.
