A distressing incident unfolded at the Choudeshwarinagar Junction on the Ring Road under Rajajinagar Traffic Station, resulting in the tragic demise of a young man. On Monday, the pillion rider of a two-wheeler, identified as Rahul Sahees (19) from West Bengal, met a fatal end after being run over by a water tanker. The accident occurred when the two-wheeler, ridden by Rahul and Raghu, skidded and both riders fell on the road. As they were proceeding from Hebta to Rajarajeshwari Nagar, the mishap unfolded at the Chaudeswari Nagar junction in the middle of the afternoon. Tragically, the wheel of the water tanker, which was traveling behind them, ran over Rahul, who was lying on the left side of the road. Despite the prompt response of authorities, Rahul succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The local traffic police swiftly took action in this case. Raghu, the rider who had fallen on the right side, escaped the incident with minor injuries. It was revealed that Raghu, a mason who works with tiles, had consumed alcohol earlier in the morning and was operating the two-wheeler under the influence. Medical examination confirmed his alcohol consumption, leading to his arrest on charges of drunken driving. Furthermore, the water tanker driver, Siddaraj, was also taken into custody by the authorities. The traffic police emphasized that a case has been duly registered at the Rajajinagar traffic police station, and both individuals involved in the incident are facing legal consequences. The tragedy highlights the importance of responsible driving and adhering to road safety measures to prevent such unfortunate accidents.
