The Karnataka Arya Vaishya Community Development Corporation has launched multiple initiatives to boost educational and financial progress among community members, Corporation President K.V. Ram Prasad announced on Monday.
Speaking at the Kannikaparameshwara temple complex, Prasad urged eligible families to utilize active flagship programs, including direct self-employment credit, educational funding, and welfare assistance. He met with various community forums, women’s councils, and youth wings to raise awareness about official welfare measures.
Last year, the corporation secured twelve crore rupees, comprising its base allocation and loan recoveries. Following appeals to the government, an additional five crore rupees was granted, enabling support for over 1,700 applicants. Prasad commended beneficiaries for maintaining an impressive eighty-five percent repayment rate, which ensures revolving funds for future applicants.
He pointed out that the rise of multinational corporations has severely impacted traditional small merchants, causing financial distress for many households. Because self-reliance often prevents struggling families from seeking public aid, reliable poverty data remains scarce. To address this, the corporation is conducting statewide surveys alongside local councils to identify underprivileged households and extend timely support.
Educational development remains a top priority, with over three crore rupees distributed directly to eligible students via transparent bank transfers. Prasad noted that the state leadership had swiftly approved key community demands within two weeks, promising to resolve remaining administrative hurdles soon. Informational brochures detailing available credit facilities were also released during the press briefing.
Senior community representatives, including district president Shasidhara Gupta, city president Srinivasa Babu, bank officials, and regional corporation executives, attended the conference. Prasad affirmed that field visits will continue across the state to bridge gaps and ensure that government benefits directly empower disadvantaged families.
