District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Chairman Reddy Srinivas directed departmental officials and committee members on Monday to jointly conduct door-to-door physical verifications of all Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries across the district.
Presiding over a progress evaluation meeting at the Zilla Panchayat’s J.H. Patel Hall, Srinivas explained that Anganwadi workers, child development officers, and taluk committee members have undergone specialized training for the reverification drive. Field teams will verify household data and upload confirmed information directly via the dedicated mobile application. Srinivas emphasized that this verification applies strictly to existing registered beneficiaries, clarifying that new applications will open only after completing this statewide review.
The review outlined strict eligibility and banking guidelines. Tax-paying households and commercial GST filers are excluded, while those wishing to opt out voluntarily may register their choice through the app. Beneficiaries must reside in Karnataka and hold local, individual bank accounts; joint accounts, loan accounts, or interstate accounts will block financial disbursements. In such cases, women will receive assistance to open separate post office or bank accounts. Srinivas noted that while June funds have been deposited, July installments will arrive this week, with August and September disbursements currently being processed.
Addressing the food subsidy scheme, Srinivas noted that ration card holders must complete electronic verification by October 20. Acknowledging that migrant laborers in Bengaluru and other states face travel hurdles, the district will formally petition the state government to permit remote digital options.
The meeting also reviewed welfare recoveries and program milestones. Over 1.84 crore rupees drawn from deceased recipients’ accounts is being recovered via challans. Across the division, over thirteen crore women passengers utilized free bus transit, nearly three lakh consumers received power utility subsidies, and over forty-five crore rupees reached unemployed youth under the Yuva Nidhi scheme.
