Former Chairman of the Karnataka Organic Seed Certification Agency, Vijugouda Patil, took an oath at the Sri Amoghasiddeshwar Temple in Arakeri, stating that he had never entered into any political understanding with Minister MB Patil and would never do so in the future.
Vijugouda visited the temple along with his supporters early in the morning. After taking a bath and offering prayers, he touched the sacred bhandara (holy turmeric powder) at the temple and swore that he had not entered into any understanding with Minister MB Patil. Speaking later, Vijugouda said he had demonstrated his commitment by taking the oath before Sri Amoghasiddeshwar, whom he described as a deity of truth. He said allegations made against him by MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal had caused him pain.
If I had entered into an understanding with MB Patil, I would not have secured more than 80,000 votes, he said. He alleged that Yatnal had failed to demonstrate a similar commitment by taking an oath that he had not entered into any understanding with M.B. Patil.Vijugouda claimed that people of Babaleshwar Assembly constituency continued to support him. He said several daily-wage workers had contributed their hard-earned wages towards his election expenses out of affection and support.
Having built such a strong cadre of workers and supporters, is it fair to accuse a person like me of having an understanding, he asked.
Co-operative leader Ramesh Bidanur said there was no substance in Yatnal’s allegation against Vijugouda. He said Vijugouda had already demonstrated his commitment by taking the oath, while Yatnal had continued to make allegations only through statements.
Several supporters and leaders, including Peeragonda Gadyal, Suresh Gowda Biradar, Mahaveer Kusanala, Mahaning Mantur, Ravat Kumbhar, Santosh Kuradaddi, Basavaraj Biradar, Sahebgowda Biradar, Shantagowda Patil, Rajugowda Patil, Shyam Pawar, Vinayak Mamadapur, Shankar Babaleshwar, Balraj Reddy, Paramanand Patil, Mahesh Mukartihal, Bhimu Golasangi, Rudrappa Ganiger, Praveen Tamagond, Moulasab Attar, Sachin Gadyal, Mohan Nayak, Dondiba Rathod and Abhishek Nayak were present.
