Police in Bengaluru’s Bilekahalli area have arrested Ranjit Kumar Gupta for the murder of his 38-year-old wife, Gunja Madeshiya. According to investigators, a violent argument erupted on Thursday morning after the victim repeatedly failed to answer her husband’s phone calls while he was at work. In a fit of rage, Gupta strangled his wife to death using a saree. To cover up the crime, he poured hot cooking oil on the body to stage it as an accidental death. However, the landlord’s suspicions prompted a police investigation, leading to the accused confessing and being remanded to judicial custody.
