The Kalyana Karnataka Regional Imbalance Removal Struggle Committee has urged Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take time-bound and stringent measures for the effective implementation of Article 371J of the Constitution and to address regional imbalances in Kalyana Karnataka.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the committee demanded immediate filling of all vacant posts in various government departments in the region, including around 30,000 vacant teacher posts.
The committee also sought the establishment of a separate administrative tribunal in Kalaburagi for the speedy disposal of cases related to appointments and promotions under Article 371J.It urged the government to establish regional offices of the KPSC and KEA in Kalyana Karnataka, fill vacant posts in universities and constitute a dedicated authority for monitoring the implementation of Article 371J.
Among its other demands, the committee sought steps to establish AIIMS in Raichur, expedite the commencement of work on the PM Mega Integrated Textile Park in Kalaburagi, and prepare a 10-year action plan for the effective utilisation of Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB) funds.The committee also called for strengthening healthcare services by appointing adequate doctors and staff at health centres across the region.
