The Math Accounts Disclosure Movement Committee (‘Lekkakodi Chaluvali Samiti’) has submitted a formal petition to the Davanagere Deputy Commissioner, alleging massive financial misappropriation of ₹10 crore in government grants by the Harihara Panchamasali Math Trust.
According to the complaint, the trust secured ₹16 crore from state departments, including ₹10 crore from the Backward Classes Welfare Department and ₹3 crore from the Panchayat Raj Department. The committee alleged that although civil construction valued at only ₹6 crore was completed on-site, the remaining ₹10 crore was siphoned off without corresponding physical work.
The committee accused officials of blatant collusion with select math trustees. Statutory norms require grants to be disbursed incrementally based on verifiable construction milestones; however, a staggering ₹10 crore was released within a mere 44 days despite structures remaining nonexistent on the ground. The representation alleged that trustees furnished fraudulent documentation and obtained misleading utilization certificates to pocket state allocations for personal gain.
Furthermore, the memorandum criticized the then Deputy Commissioner and district Backward Classes Welfare officials for bypassing mandatory procedural verifications before expediting the payments. Submitting documentary evidence to support their claims, the activist committee demanded an immediate high-level administrative inquiry, criminal prosecution of complicit trustees and bureaucratic intermediaries, and swift recovery of the misappropriated state funds to the government exchequer.
