An agricultural theme park based on the ‘Swayam Krishi’ concept was inaugurated at Koluru village in Tavarekere Hobli on the outskirts of Bengaluru, aiming to create awareness about farming among the younger generation.
The initiative, led by farmer and entrepreneur Ravi K.S., seeks to provide visitors, particularly youth, with practical exposure to agriculture and the realities of farming. The inauguration was attended by newspaper editors Ravindra Bhat, Channe Gowda and Jogi, along with Dr B.T. Rudresh and senior government official Hiremath.
Before the inauguration, the dignitaries toured the farm in a bullock cart. They later participated in symbolic ploughing and seed-sowing ceremonies, marking the formal launch of the theme park.
The guests welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of providing comprehensive knowledge about agriculture to future generations. They said such efforts could help young people understand farming practices and the role of agriculture in society.
Senior actor Suchendra Prasad, who has supported and guided the project since its inception, said ‘Swayam Krishi’ offers youth an opportunity to see and understand the realities of farming.
“‘Swayam Krishi’ is like a mirror that reflects the reality of farming to today’s youth,” Prasad said.
He also noted that the farm could serve as a location for film shoots and said Ravi K.S.’s interest in film production could create opportunities for collaboration between agriculture and the film industry.
Prasad said he would take steps to invite artists to the venue in future and help spread awareness about the initiative.
