The cultural performances during the world-famous Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari should be presented in a more organised, innovative and visually appealing manner, Urban Development and Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday.
Chairing the Dasara Mahotsava Executive Committee meeting held here, he instructed the organisers to ensure that when more than one cultural troupe representing the same art form is selected, all the groups undergo joint rehearsals beforehand and present a coordinated and uniform performance during the procession. Those purchasing Gold Cards will be allotted seats with seat numbers, so that there would be no provision for distribution of complimentary Gold Cards. Officials serving on various sub-committees constituted for the smooth conduct of Dasara events to discharge their responsibilities efficiently and ensure that there were no lapses. Accommodation should be arranged for sportspersons and wrestlers arriving from different districts. The Mahila Dasara Committee should identify a road with sufficient space for the rangoli competition and ensure that the designs are innovative and convey meaningful social messages, he said.
Documentary
The meeting also discussed a proposal by National Geographic Channel to produce a documentary showcasing the various events of the world-renowned Mysuru Dasara.
Panel to select 15 best tableaux
Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture Shivaraj S. Tangadagi said a State-level committee headed by the Secretary of the Kannada and Culture Department has been constituted to select the 15 best tableaux from among those representing 30 districts for participation in the Jamboo Savari. Officials must allot specific performance slots, in minutes, to each tableau and cultural troupe at designated points along the procession route so that the Jamboo Savari proceeds in a disciplined manner. Ambassadors from foreign countries are being invited to the Dasara festivities, and three ambassadors have already given their consent, he said. Officials should extend invitations through proper protocol and make the necessary arrangements for their visit.
He also directed officials to prepare theme-based models for the Dasara drone show, obtain approval from the Chief Minister and proceed with preparations.
Chamundeshwari MLA Harish Gowda said the various circles in Mysuru have their own historical significance and suggested that the circles be illuminated with electric lights reflecting their individual identity and heritage.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy said the district administration was making preparations to conduct this year’s Dasara programmes in an innovative and disciplined manner. The officials to immediately bring any difficulties faced by the sub-committees during programme arrangements to the notice of the district administration.
Grand Welcome Arrangements
Additional Deputy Commissioner Aishwarya R. said the Reception Committee would prepare invitation cards in new colours and invite dignitaries. Arrangements were also being made for accommodation in hotels, hostels and dormitories.
Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said elaborate security arrangements would be made during Dasara to ensure there were no lapses. The Torchlight Parade would be organised along the lines of last year’s programme.
Yuva Dasara from Oct 13 to 17
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi said Yuva Dasara would be held from October 13 to 17. Popular film choreographer Prabhu Deva will inaugurate the event, while renowned artistes will perform over the five-day festival.
