Union Minister Prahlad Joshi on Tuesday criticized the Congress-led state government, saying its leaders had realized the importance of the PM-KUSUM scheme very late. Taking a dig at the government, he said its “tubelight” had finally switched on. He also accused Congress of focusing on politics instead of performance.
Joshi said the central government was working to protect farmers and control rising prices. He noted that poor rainfall had affected the prices of some commodities, but efforts were being made to bring them down. He also said the country’s economy remained strong despite difficult global conditions, with investment and exports showing positive growth.
The Union Minister said India’s economic progress had received appreciation at the BRICS summit. However, he alleged that opposition leaders were more interested in discussing the food served at the meeting than recognizing the country’s achievements. He said GDP figures could not be hidden and added that Indian-designed products and mobile phones were expected to be launched next year.
Joshi also criticized Congress for what he described as “emotional politics.” He referred to the use of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi’s ashes during elections and contrasted this with what he called the present government’s focus on performance-based politics.
He said around 81 crore people were receiving free rice every month through government support. He also announced that the BJP would observe Seva Sankalpa Saptaha from September 17 to October 17, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. On September 17, an Ashirvada Deepa will be lit outside households as a symbol of service and public welfare.
