The annual Tumakuru Dasara festival will be celebrated on a grand, inclusive scale this year from October 11 to 21, District In-charge Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara announced on Tuesday.
Unveiling the official festival logo at the Central Library hall, Dr. Parameshwara stated that the upcoming celebrations will feature high-tech exhibitions highlighting artificial intelligence and technological advancements alongside rich regional traditions. Over 2,000 children will participate in cultural programs, showcasing the district’s distinct heritage and history. He noted that Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has been formally invited and has assured his presence at the grand event.
Reflecting on the festival’s evolution over the past two years, the Minister noted that Tumakuru Dasara has grown into a major community celebration rivaling Mysuru Dasara by transcending caste and religious boundaries. Recalling last year’s edition, he highlighted successful initiatives including Navadurga rituals, Homa-Havanas, poetry sessions, Yuva Dasara, and Mahila Dasara. The previous festival had featured an ISRO rocket assembly exhibition, a ‘Prachanda’ combat helicopter display with joyrides, and performances by 150 Alva’s artists supported with funds sanctioned under former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Tumakuru City MLA G.B. Jyothiganesh, BMTC Vice-Chairman Niket Raj Maurya, Guarantee Schemes Committee Chairman Chandrashekhar Gowda, Deputy Commissioner Shubha Kalyan, ZP CEO B.V. Ashwija, City Corporation Commissioner Shubha, and SP Ashok K.V. attended the launch. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to conduct the ten-day festival with distinction and widespread public participation.
