Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation Chairman Ramappa M. has directed officials to speed up welfare projects aimed at improving the economic, social and educational conditions of the Bhovi community.
He said eligible beneficiaries should receive government assistance within the prescribed time and urged departments to respond quickly to community needs.
Speaking at a progress review meeting at the J.H. Patel Hall, Ramappa reviewed the implementation of various corporation schemes. He said programmes covering self-employment, entrepreneurship, Ganga Kalyan, microcredit and land ownership should reach eligible beneficiaries without delay. Officials were also asked to work towards achieving the targets fixed for each scheme.
Ramappa called on lead bank managers to cooperate in providing banking services for credit-based programmes. He also instructed GESCOM officials to ensure timely electricity connections for borewells being provided under the Ganga Kalyan scheme. Such coordination, he said, would help beneficiaries use government support effectively and become financially independent.
During the meeting, Ramappa examined the progress of different schemes and stressed the need for regular monitoring. He encouraged members of the Bhovi community to make full use of the available programmes and use the opportunities to improve their livelihoods. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation District Manager N. Pushpalatha explained the schemes being implemented during the current year.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sidrameshwar, Bhovi Development Corporation General Manager Shivaswamy, Deputy Conservator of Forests Nirmala N.K., Assistant Commissioner Mahebub Jilani and other officials attended the meeting. Representatives from social welfare, women’s and child development, backward classes welfare and banking departments also participated. Officials were directed to coordinate closely and ensure benefits reach deserving families on time.
