Minister Dr. M.B. Patil on Saturday launched the district-level Praja Seva campaign at Chadachan, aiming to bring government services closer to people and settle their problems without repeated visits to government offices. The programme was held at Gurukrupa Kalyana Mantapa on Godihal Road.
Dr. Patil said the government wanted to take services to taluk and hobli levels wherever possible. He directed officials to treat every application and complaint seriously and resolve eligible cases within the fixed time. People can submit requests related to pensions, housing, land records, drinking water, roads, electricity, healthcare, education and government schemes at one venue. Officials were told to provide application IDs and send each grievance to the concerned department.
The minister personally heard several petitions and asked officials to act quickly. Residents sought a veterinary hospital, road asphalting, action on Jal Jeevan Mission works, land record corrections, house sites, ration cards, certificates and compensation. Dr. Patil ordered field inspections where necessary and warned that negligence or unnecessary delays would not be accepted. Pension cases were also to be expedited. Benefits under social security schemes, including Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana passbooks, were distributed to eligible beneficiaries.
Dr. Patil said the Congress government had implemented its five guarantee schemes, Shakti, Gruha Jyothi, Anna Bhagya, Gruha Lakshmi and Yuva Nidhi. About ₹5,068 crore had been spent on these schemes in Vijayapura district, he said. He also highlighted the district’s difficult agricultural situation, saying rainfall was around 60 percent below normal. Several rain-fed crops had suffered damage, leaving farmers in distress. He said the government had requested drought status for other affected taluks and would work to improve water supply to tail-end areas.
Chadachan MLA Vitthal Katakadhond welcomed the campaign as a people-focused effort to solve problems directly. He said nearly 80 percent of roads in the constituency had been developed and the remaining works would be completed soon. He also sought drought relief, stronger irrigation facilities and better basic infrastructure. A Prajasaudha building and a new bus depot are being developed in Chadachan. The campaign’s success will depend on how quickly officials turn public complaints into practical solutions and ensure that people see results without making repeated trips to government offices.
