Gujarat steps up investor outreach

Mumbai

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held meetings with industry leaders in Mumbai on Thursday, intensifying investor outreach ahead of the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027.

The roadshow at The Taj Mahal Palace brought discussions on projects, renewable energy, electric vehicles, copper recycling, textiles, future mobility and financial services. Consul Generals are also scheduled to attend the programme, reflecting Gujarat’s effort to deepen engagement with industry and the diplomatic community.

Patel’s meeting with Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra focused on expanding the group’s footprint in Gujarat, including opportunities in electric vehicles, future mobility and a possible presence in GIFT City. Patel highlighted Gujarat’s port-led logistics network, industrial infrastructure and policy framework as advantages for manufacturing and financial services.

With AM/NS India CEO Amit Harlalka, Patel discussed the company’s plan to build the world’s largest steel manufacturing plant in Gujarat, with an ultimate capacity of 25 million tonnes. He said the company is progressing on an Rs 80,000 crore capital investment programme targeted for completion by June, along with an additional Rs 10,000 crore commitment for renewable energy and battery storage systems at Hazira.

Patel also met Hindalco Industries Managing Director Satish Pai to discuss copper recycling, e-waste management and the circular economy, including the December inauguration of its copper recycling plant.

Talks with Welspun Living CEO and Managing Director Dipali Goenka covered expanding manufacturing, technical textiles and modernisation, building on facilities at Anjar and Vapi. The outreach signals Gujarat’s push to convert investor interest into projects.
