The State Government has launched the Prajaseva Department to take government services closer to citizens and resolve grievances at the local level within the legal framework.
The first district-level Prajaseva Andolana meeting in Vijayapura district will be held at 10.30 am on September 5 at Gurukrupa Mangal Karyalaya on Godihal Road in Chadachan. District in-charge Minister M B Patil will chair the meeting, with the local MLA leading the programme.
The initiative will provide citizens an opportunity to directly submit complaints, applications and grievances and seek timely solutions without making repeated visits to government offices.
Under government guidelines, Prajaseva Andolana meetings will be held across the State every Saturday under the leadership of district in-charge ministers and local MLAs. District and taluk-level meetings will be held on the first and third Saturdays, while taluk and hobli-level meetings will be conducted on the second and fourth Saturdays.
The programme will initially be held at taluk headquarters and later extended to hobli and gram panchayat centres.
District-level officials, including the Deputy Commissioner, police chief, Zilla Panchayat CEO and Deputy Conservator of Forests, have been instructed to participate. Taluk-level officers, including tahsildars, police officials, taluk panchayat executive officers and forest officers, will attend meetings at the lower level.
Departments have been directed not to schedule other meetings on Prajaseva Andolana days.
Deputy Commissioners must prepare schedules at least a month in advance and publicise them through government notice boards and the media. Pre-printed application forms and lists of required documents will be distributed to households at least 15 days before meetings with assistance from field staff.
Department-wise counters equipped with computers or laptops, printers, internet connectivity and stationery will be established. Applications will be accepted on the spot, while applicants will receive acknowledgements containing an IPGRS reference number.
Eligible beneficiaries can also be registered for various government schemes and programmes. Exhibition stalls showcasing government schemes, services and best practices will be set up at the meetings.
Services at citizens’ doorstep
Prajaseva Andolana meetings are designed to reduce the need for repeated visits to government offices. Citizens can submit applications and grievances at department-wise counters, receive acknowledgements and access information on welfare schemes. The government has appealed to people to participate in meetings held at taluk and hobli centres and make full use of the opportunity to access public services closer to their homes.
