A 55-year-old two-wheeler rider died on the spot after his TVS Excel collided head-on with a car near Unchageri village on the Yelaburga-Badami highway in Gajendragad taluk on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Eerappa Sanganal, a resident of Unchageri village. According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when the car driver allegedly drove at high speed and without due care. The vehicles crashed head-on, and the impact sent the car off the road and into a nearby field.
Eerappa suffered severe injuries in the collision and died at the scene. The incident caused concern among local residents, who gathered at the spot after hearing about the accident.
Officials and personnel from Gajendragad Police Station reached the location soon after receiving information. They inspected the accident site and began an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash.
Police sent Eerappa’s body for a post-mortem examination and registered a case at the station. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact cause of the accident and determine responsibility.
