Charles Leclerc has praised Ferrari for taking an aggressive and innovative approach to car development this season. As the team prepares for its home race at the Italian Grand Prix, Leclerc highlighted the relentless effort behind their ongoing upgrades in the Formula One championship battle.
Ferrari currently sits 87 points behind Mercedes in the constructors’ standings. Teammate Lewis Hamilton is locked in a tight battle for second in the drivers’ championship, trailing leader Kimi Antonelli. Unlike rivals who have slowed down their development pace, Ferrari has consistently pushed new parts onto the SF-26 car at almost every major round, including Miami, Barcelona, Austria, Britain, Hungary, and the Netherlands.
Leclerc pointed out that the team’s design and production offices have done an incredible job working flat out to deliver parts early. This constant stream of updates makes a massive difference in the early stages of a new regulation cycle, where every single upgrade yields significant performance gains. Innovations like the clever rear-wing designs and unique tailpipe winglets show that engineers are finding creative ways to extract extra speed.
The Monegasque driver noted that power unit performance remains a primary area where Ferrari still needs to catch up to competitors like Mercedes and Red Bull. However, the team’s development program is entirely clear and structured. Unlike previous years, the correlation between wind-tunnel data and actual track performance has been remarkably accurate, avoiding any nasty surprises.
With a further power unit update expected for their home crowd at Monza, Leclerc remains confident that the team is on the right path. Ferrari plans to maintain this aggressive momentum through the second half of the season as they hunt down championship glory.
