A Chikkodi court has sentenced Ameer Lalsab Jamadar, 26, to life imprisonment for murdering a 16-year-old girl after she rejected his love proposal. The incident occurred on August 1, 2021, under Harugeri police limits in Belagavi district. According to the prosecution, Jamadar followed the Class 9 student while she was returning from the Kariddeshwar fair with her sister and friends. He stopped her on the Karnawadi farm road and threatened her after she refused his proposal. He then attacked her with a sharp meat-cutting knife, causing fatal injuries. The Chikkodi Seventh Additional District and Sessions Court considered witness statements and other evidence before delivering the verdict. Judge Vijayakumar sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a ₹30,000 fine. The prosecution welcomed the verdict, saying justice had finally been delivered to the victim’s family.
