MLA Allamprabhu Patil hit back at former BJP MLA Dattatreya Patil Revoor, asking him to first explain why the constituency did not witness the expected development despite members of his family representing the seat for nearly two decades.
Addressing a press conference, Patil said he had been visiting people who elected him three years ago and creating awareness about the need to question the government and elected representatives on development. Patil said the people would decide how effectively the former MLA’s family members, father, mother and son had responded to public issues. He questioned whether the former MLA had raised the problems of farmers and the poor even for a single day in the Legislative Assembly. He said he had raised the issue of crop insurance compensation for farmers in the Assembly and termed allegations that it was merely a political drama as an insult to farmers.
Patil said priority had been given to water resources and groundwater development in Kalaburagi South constituency. Check dams are being constructed at various locations, including Patan, Sindagi and Melakunda, at a cost of Rs 8 crore. A percolation tank is being constructed at a cost of Rs 6.14 crore, while a lake development project at Hunasihadil is being taken up at a cost of Rs 1 crore. Under the Special Component Plan, Rs 1 crore has been earmarked for the construction of 20 borewells. Overall, development works worth Rs 16.84 crore have been taken up, while Rs 24.34 crore is being spent on groundwater development, he said.
Under the Ganga Kalyana scheme, 129 wells have been constructed. Vehicles have been distributed under the Swavalambi Sarathi scheme, while various loan facilities have been provided to 120 beneficiaries and sewing machines to 46 beneficiaries, among other welfare measures, he added.
Mayor Varsha Jane, Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority chairperson Chandrika Parameshwar, Babu Vanti, Santosh Patil Dannur, Bhimrao Melakundi, Sangamesh Naganalli and Shivaraya Bali were among those present.
