Soraba voters’ list, 16,209 names missing, Notices to 4,081 voters

In connection with the special comprehensive revision of voters, a meeting was held with the leaders of various political parties and the draft voter list was published under the Chairmanship of Voter Registration Officer KR Sujatha at the taluk office hall of the town.

Tahsildar and Deputy Registrar of Voters K Purandara said that the draft voter list has been released after the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process in the taluk and voters can check whether their names are in the voter list at the local BLO or the official website of the Election Commission.

The names of about 16,209 voters have been excluded from the draft voter list that has been published so far. He informed that those whose names are not on the list have until September 23 to file objections, and that the Election Commission will provide information on how voters can check whether their names are on the list.

As per the voter list of June 16, there are 1,98,955 voters in the taluk, out of which 1,82,746 voters’ names have been authenticated and computerization work has been completed. That is, 91.85 percent of the revision work has been completed. During the SIR process, 16,209 voters were included in the ASDDO category. The names of these voters do not appear in the draft voter list. Out of these, 5,759 voters have been identified as deceased, 1,093 voters are absent and 7822 voters have migrated, she said.

In addition, young voters who will turn 18 on October 1 can be included in the electoral roll by submitting Form 6 along with the prescribed documents. They can apply for change of name and address using Form-8. Only after the citizenship of that voter list is confirmed after verification by the polling booth officials, their names will be included in the final electoral roll, she said.

The meeting was attended by Election Commissioner YS Deepak and leaders of various political parties.
