Kumta
An 18-year-old student, Prashanth Keshav Mukri, drowned while swimming with friends at Jaddikere near Walagalli in Kumta taluk, Uttara Kannada district. He reportedly drowned after being caught unaware by the depth and water current. After receiving information, Kumta police and fire personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation with the help of local swimmers. Kumta police PSI Khader Basha personally entered the lake and joined the search. He assisted fire personnel and local swimmers in locating and retrieving the student’s body. Locals appreciated the PSI’s courage, dedication and humanitarian approach. A case has been registered at Kumta police station, and further legal procedures are underway.
