Priyanka Chaturvedi backs Rahul’s Pune women outreach

New Delhi

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Sunday welcomed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Chhatron Ki Goonj programme in Pune, stressing the importance of giving women a platform to express their views and concerns.

Chaturvedi praised the initiative focused on women’s issues and said that listening to women’s experiences was essential for understanding the challenges they face. Her remarks came after Rahul Gandhi’s Pune event, the fourth edition of the Chhatron Ki Goonj campaign, which focused particularly on women and students.

The campaign, launched by Rahul Gandhi in Kota in June, has sought to highlight issues affecting young people, including education, employment and other challenges. The Pune edition placed greater emphasis on women-centric concerns.

Rahul Gandhi has said that women need equality, safety, opportunities and the freedom to express their views. He has also raised concerns over insecurity and discrimination faced by women, urging young people to participate in discussions on their rights and future.

The Pune programme featured interactions with women students and sought to provide them with an opportunity to speak about their experiences and concerns. The initiative comes amid a broader political outreach by the Congress among young voters and women.

Chaturvedi’s support for the event underlined the political importance of creating spaces where women can directly articulate their concerns. She said women’s voices should be heard in discussions shaping society and the country’s future.

The Chhatron Ki Goonj campaign has previously been held in Kota, Dehradun and Prayagraj before reaching Pune. Rahul Gandhi has used the platform to discuss youth-related issues, including unemployment, expensive education, examination paper leaks, access to credit and the impact of artificial intelligence.
