‘Discipline and hard work build bright futures’

Education is not merely about classroom learning but also about developing students’ personalities, revealing their talents and preparing them for the future, said Principal Dr. Appanna Hanje. He stressed that a warm and trustworthy relationship between students and educational institutions plays an important role not only in academic progress but also in shaping responsible citizens.

He was speaking at the orientation programme organised for first-year students admitted to K.H. Patil Government First Grade College, Hulakoti, for the 2026-27 academic year. The programme was held at the Vivekananda Pre-University College auditorium. Dr. Hanje said the college has a responsibility to listen to students’ concerns, identify their talents and interests and provide appropriate guidance for their academic and personal growth.

Programme coordinator and Cultural Department coordinator Ramesh Hulakund said students should consider their college as their own family and develop discipline, punctuality, good conduct and a sense of social responsibility. He encouraged students to make effective use of the academic and extracurricular opportunities available on campus.

The programme began with a prayer by Kumari Pragya Varnekar. Mahaananda Hiremath, head of the Arts Department, welcomed the gathering. IQAC coordinator Dr. Manjunath Tyalagatti, Employment Information Cell coordinator Dr. Shreevitthal D., NSS coordinator Vijaykumar S., Hosa Diganta programme coordinator Huseinbhasha, Discipline Committee coordinator Mahantesh and Red Cross coordinator Bhimmesh introduced students to various academic and student-support activities of the college.

Internal Examination Department coordinator Manojkumar Jyotavar delivered the vote of thanks. Rovers-Rangers coordinator Savitri T. conducted the programme.
