The Karnataka Brahmin Development Board has invited applications for the Vipra Self-Employment Direct Loan Scheme for economically backward Brahmin families. Eligible applicants can receive loans from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh for activities such as dairy farming, cottage industries, small businesses, hotels, catering and taxis. The loan carries a four per cent interest rate, with subsidies of Rs. 20,000 or Rs. 40,000 available as per scheme rules. Applicants aged 18 to 65 must hold an economically backward certificate. Only one family member can apply. Women receive 33 per cent reservation and persons with disabilities five per cent. The deadline is August 31.
