The Udupi district administration will celebrate the 111th birth anniversary of former Karnataka Chief Minister D. Devaraja Urs on August 20. The programme will begin at 10 am at Jagannath Sabha Bhavan of Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society in Mission Compound. Food and Civil Supplies Minister and district in-charge Rizwad Arshad will inaugurate the event, while MLA Yashpal A. Suvarna will preside. Several ministers, MPs, legislators and senior officials are expected to attend. Udupi Taluk Government Pre-University College Principal Nagaraj will speak about Urs’s life, achievements and contribution to social transformation, particularly for backward communities.
