HUBBALLI
Several cultural and environmental organizations in Hubballi paid tribute to renowned Kannada poet, critic and playwright Dr. D. R. Bendre during a performance of his century-old play Sayo Aata. Members of the Horakeri Mastara Education Foundation, Ranichannamma Environmental Service Committee, Basava Environment Conservation Committee, Dr. D. R. Bendre Research Institute and Rangarekha Kalabalaga attended the programme. Bendre, popularly known as Ambikatanayadatta, made a lasting contribution to Kannada literature and received both the Jnanpith Award and Padma Shri. Organizers garlanded his portrait and remembered his literary legacy. Poets, writers, artists and social workers also participated in the tribute programme.
