CH NEWS, HANAGAL
Karnataka Home Board President and MLA Srinivas Mane said government efforts to provide educational facilities are helping children from poor and backward communities access better education. He was speaking after inaugurating a new Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Post-Matric Girls’ Hostel in Hanagal, built by the Social Welfare Department at a cost of Rs. 6.5 crore.
Mane said public tax money was being used effectively to support education and provide better facilities for disadvantaged students. He said hostels and residential schools were helping poor children continue their studies. According to him, society has moved away from old systems of hereditary servitude, and every person should now receive equal educational opportunities.
He urged students to use the facilities provided by the government responsibly and work towards a better future. He also asked people to protect government property as they would protect their own property. Proper maintenance of public facilities, he said, would help ensure that government funds could be used for new development projects.
Social Welfare Department Assistant Director G.B. Hiremath said MLA Srinivas Mane had made significant contributions towards improving department hostels. She said there was no shortage of funds for student welfare and that better hostel facilities were making education easier for poor and backward-class students in Hanagal taluk.
Hiremath also appealed to legislators to provide funds for constructing two more hostel buildings in the taluk. Tahsildar Vitthal Chowgula, Social Welfare Department Joint Director Prashantha Varagappa, Guarantee Implementation Committee Taluk President Veerappa Bailawala and several local representatives and officials attended the programme. Education and welfare officials also participated. The new hostel is expected to provide improved accommodation and support for girls pursuing post-matric education, helping more students continue their studies and pursue better opportunities.
