SLUG- “Change is possible”
The government school in Santuk Pimpri village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district has received its first-ever computer system and new benches following the “School Thik Karo” campaign launched by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke.
Dipke launched the campaign on Independence Day after inspecting the Zilla Parishad-run school and highlighting several basic infrastructure problems. These included broken windows, clogged toilets and inadequate seating for students.
Following his visit, Santuk Pimpri Sarpanch Vijay Puri said repair work had begun. Damaged windows and defunct CCTV cameras were being replaced, while work was also underway to improve water supply in the washrooms.
On Tuesday, Dipke announced that the school had received new benches and its first-ever computer. He thanked school staff and villagers for supporting the improvements.
Dipke said the development showed that public participation could bring change. “When the government fails, people step up! Change is possible,” he said in a post on X.
He had earlier said that government schools continued to lack basic facilities decades after Independence and urged communities to take action to improve them.
