A dirty garbage spot on a busy road in Bengaluru has been fixed. The local city corporation cleaned up a 500-meter stretch of the footpath near the Adugodi Police Quarters on Hosur Main Road. For a long time, people threw trash here, making it hard for walkers and causing bad smells. Now, the mess is gone. The walls along the footpath feature bright new paintings and helpful messages about keeping the city clean.
Commissioner K.N. Ramesh joined the clean-up work himself. He picked up a brush and painted a clean-up message on the wall to encourage everyone to keep their neighborhoods tidy. To make sure people do not start throwing trash there again, the Commissioner ordered special guards, called marshals, to watch the area all day. He said anyone caught dumping garbage will face heavy fines with no exceptions. Officials must also keep a close eye on other dirty spots across the city.
The corporation found twenty-five bad garbage spots in the BTM Layout area. Five of them are already fixed, and the Commissioner told his team to clean the rest very soon. He also asked workers to talk to local residents to hear their thoughts and make sure people are happy with the changes.
Along with cleaning the trash, the city removed illegal shops and items blocking the path for walkers. Workers are now repairing broken parts of the footpath so people can walk easily and safely. Local health officers and other top officials joined the Commissioner during his visit to check the new work.
Action plan & public feedback
During the inspection alongside local health officials and Marshals, the Commissioner instructed the BSWML Assistant General Manager to ensure continuous surveillance and regular public feedback collection. Repair works on damaged footpaths are also progressing rapidly to improve commuter mobility across the area.
