RONA
Rona Taluk Guarantee Committee President Mithun G. Patil has directed officials to speed up the implementation of government guarantee schemes and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is denied benefits.
At a meeting held at the Taluk Panchayat Hall, he asked officials to identify ineligible and deceased beneficiaries and take action according to rules.
Under the Grihalakshmi scheme, officials said 38,278 applications had been registered against 38,422 ration cards, with 34,528 applications approved, achieving 90.20% progress. A house-to-house survey found 945 deceased beneficiaries and 248 GST registrations. Officials were asked to update ration cards when the head of a family dies and inform eligible beneficiaries about instalment dates through social media.
Regarding Annabhagya, Patil expressed concern that fair price shops had not displayed the required 12 rules. Officials were asked to correct this. People above 75 can use OTP-based authentication when fingerprints fail. Officials said ration distribution delays were linked to warehouse lifting, while August and September supplies are being distributed together.
The Griha Jyoti re-survey has reached 86%, and officials were told to complete the remaining work through door-to-door visits. Members also sought regular electricity advisory meetings. Under Shakti, members requested buses on the Rona-Abbigeri route at 6 am and 5.30 pm, along with additional services on crowded routes. Officials were asked to ensure buses stop at designated points for students and women passengers.
The committee also directed KSRTC operators to improve cleanliness and drinking water facilities at bus stops. Executive Officer Chandrashekar Kandakura and other department officials and committee members attended the meeting. Patil stressed that effective monitoring and timely action were essential to ensure government schemes reached deserving families without unnecessary delays.
