Women and Child Development Department district representative Madevappa urged officials to ensure that eligible women receive the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana without delay.
He said effective implementation and better coordination are needed to achieve the scheme’s purpose and support pregnant and lactating mothers.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a training workshop for officers implementing the scheme and maternal nutrition programmes. The workshop was organized jointly by the district administration, district panchayat, Women and Child Development Department, District Women Empowerment Unit and IPE Global, Bengaluru, at the District Health and Family Welfare Department auditorium on Monday.
Madevappa said the registration process should be made faster so beneficiaries can receive financial assistance on time. He also stressed the need to provide clear information to women and improve both registration and payment rates. District Support Manager of IPE Global, Yallappa K., conducted training on the scheme, including procedures, officials’ responsibilities, beneficiary registration, monitoring, reporting and methods to improve payments. Maternal nutrition was also discussed.
CDP nutrition staff, Mission Shakti personnel and implementing officers from all taluks attended the workshop. Mission Shakti Project district coordinator Vanajashree welcomed the participants, while Matru Vandana Project district coordinator Kumuda Gowda presented the programme. The organisers said stronger field-level efforts and timely guidance would help more eligible mothers access the scheme’s financial support and improve maternal well-being.
