India is currently taking massive leaps forward across numerous sectors, ranging from cutting-edge technology and space exploration to healthcare, education, and economic growth. As the nation rapidly advances toward a bright future, every citizen and institution must also step up their performance, speed, and overall quality to contribute to national progress. This inspiring message was shared by Dr. Bhagwan B.C., Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, during the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
Dr. Bhagwan hoisted the national flag at the main campus to mark the historic occasion. Addressing the gathered crowd, he reminded everyone that Independence Day is far more than just a regular holiday or a simple day of celebration. Instead, it serves as an important annual reminder for every individual to recognize their personal duties and actively participate in building a stronger nation.
Highlighting India’s rise as a leading global economic and digital power, the Vice-Chancellor urged RGUHS to match this rapid national momentum. He noted that the university must play a vital role in building a developed country by continuously improving the standard of medical education, expanding research opportunities, and upgrading healthcare services. He stressed that adopting modern innovations like artificial intelligence and fostering a startup culture are top priorities for preparing students to lead tomorrow’s global healthcare systems.
Furthermore, Dr. Bhagwan called upon all faculty members, officers, staff, and students to embrace discipline, transparency, and a true spirit of service in their daily work. He emphasized that shaping young minds goes beyond creating skilled professionals; it requires nurturing responsible, socially conscious citizens who are deeply committed to the welfare of our society.
The flag-hoisting ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from key university leaders, including Registrar Arjun Wodeyar, Evaluation Registrar Dr. Riyaz Basha, and Finance Officer Gangadhar B.K. Several syndicate members, senate representatives, department staff, and students also attended the event to honor the nation’s freedom.
