Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Saturday Independence Day is meant to remember the sacrifices, courage and contribution of the freedom fighters.
Gehlot was addressing a gathering at Lok Bhavan after hoisting the tricolour and paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and the architect of the Indian constitution B R Ambedkar on the occasion of 8th Independence Day.
Addressing people, the Governor extended his warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the State.
He said, “Independence Day is an occasion to remember the indomitable courage, sacrifice and contribution of the great leaders and countless freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to securing the freedom of the motherland.”
He paid homage to all those who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Gehlot underlined that Karnataka is renowned for its rich culture, knowledge traditions, innovation and spirit of unity in diversity and recalled its glorious tradition of valour and patriotism, which made an outstanding contribution to the freedom struggle.
“Karnataka is playing a leading role in this transformative journey. Bengaluru has emerged as a symbol of India’s technological and innovation capabilities,” he said.
He noted that the young talents of Karnataka, scientists, entrepreneurs, farmers, workers, teachers and women are making significant contributions not only to the development of the State but also to nation-building. The development of Karnataka will further strengthen the development of the nation.
